Hyperopia
Hyperopia or long-sightedness is when a person can see distant objects clearly but cannot focus on close objects. The reason for this is that the eye is too short, and objects are focused behind the eye. Most children are born long sighted and sometimes as they grow, this rectifies itself as the eye grows longer. However, depending on the level of hyperopia, sometimes glasses or contacts are needed to correct it.

Symptoms of hyperopia may include:
- Blurred vision
- Headaches
- Difficulty concentrating on close tasks
- Eyestrain
- Squinting to see better
- Strabismus or misalignment of the eyes.

Regular eye examinations are essential in order to monitor your child’s vision, and also due to the fact that the eye is growing, the strength of glasses required will change over time. Book your child’s eye examination online today.
