Celebrating 1 year of Byrne’s Opticians

2024 is a new year, marking new beginnings for the world; for us at Byrne’s Optician, it marks our 1st anniversary of being open at our brand new location at 61 South Street, in the heart of New Ross! Join us in this blog, as we reminisce on the events and milestones that took place throughout the past year.

New faces that have joined us

We’ve welcomed some new members to the team at our opticians in New Ross in the year gone by.

Say hello to Niamh Gaffney, one of our new Optical Assistant’s! Niamh enjoys window dressing and social media, so you’ll see the results of her creativity and artistic efforts both in practice and online. If you require a helping hand when it comes to choosing frames, Niamh’s the hero of the hour. With a keen eye for all things eyewear, you know you will walk out that door feeling super stylish. When she’s not using her expertise at work, she enjoys keeping fit in the gym or enjoying a long walk.

In 2023 we also welcomed a second Optical Assistant, Jennie Byrne. As part of her role, Jennie likes to focus on all things lab-related, such as glazing your new lenses or fixing your broken specs. A social butterfly, outside of work you’ll find her with friends or having some downtime in front of the TV.

Our most recent recruit to the team is Therese Maddock, the third and final Optical Assistant. There’s lots to learn about the eye industry, and Therese is enjoying soaking it all in. On her days off, Therese makes the most of spending time with her daughter and enjoys reading when she has a chance.

Spotlight on: new eyewear

Over the year, we’ve been stocking up on new eyewear brands to widen the variety for our patients. Being an independent opticians means we can be selective and choose brands we know our customers will like. We’ve listened to customers’ preferences and introduced collections from a range of top eyewear brands to cater to different tastes and budgets.

You’ll find the likes of Wolf Eyewear, a British brand with a diverse range of materials and styles. Then there’s Prada and Prada Sport for designer fashion lovers and sporty style enthusiasts. Kate Spade is another addition, a popular brand from New York with strong and empowering feminine styles. Not forgetting you’ll also find Seventh Street, Carrera Eyewear, Ray-Ban, and Jaguar collections in our practice.

State-of-the-art new equipment

We’re always working to keep on top of the latest advances in eyecare, so we’ve invested in some new advanced equipment for our patients to benefit from. Keeping our technology up to date is important for enhancing patient care and ensuring you get the best treatment possible. Our latest addition is an Optos ultra-widefield retinal imaging machine. Enabling the optometrist to capture a 200-degree view of the retina at the back of your eye, the Optos produces detailed images and diagnostic information that traditional retinal imaging equipment just can’t provide.

A big thank you

We’d like to thank all our patients, friends, and family, for the support they’ve given us in the first year of our new location being open. We’re looking forward to an exciting future and can’t wait to see what’s to come in 2024.
